Our Story
We are proud of our roots in the North West of England.
These go back a long way, when a Liverpool practice – Aloysius J. Davies was set up. As a continuation of that firm, Potts & Co. was established in the late 1950s, with the present name being adopted relatively recently, in 1966.
Since then, we have developed into a well-respected firm of British and European patent and trade mark attorneys, serving both UK industry and commerce, and an ever-increasing international client base. On 1 October 2008, Potts Kerr & Co. joined forces with Forresters – a leading firm of British patent and trade mark attorneys with well-established offices in London and Birmingham. This new association gives both firms a major strategic presence in the North West of England, and across the UK.
Being proud of our pedigree, we have always been located on Merseyside – a region rich in commercial, industrial and innovative history. We are now lucky to be based in Hamilton Square – a 19th Century development second only to London's Trafalgar Square for having the most Grade I listed buildings in one place in England, of which ours form two. In recent years, Birkenhead has enjoyed significant investment and redevelopment, and major plans are underway for regeneration of the docklands areas, and beyond.
The North West of England is enjoying a period of impressive growth, and has become a much sought-after region in which to live, and work. With easy access to Liverpool, Manchester and the surrounding areas, and now with new office facilities in Birmingham and London, we are well-placed to assist clients locally, and further afield, in the local and friendly manner for which Merseyside has become synonymous.
